Peter Pichler puts live Trautonium music to the silent movie master piece "Metropolis" (1927) by Fritz Lang for the finissage of the exhibition "100 years UFA" at the "Kunstfoyer der Versicherungskammer Bayern".
The film as well as this extraordinary early electronic instrument originate from an extremely creative and openminded era in Germany, the Weimar Republic, between the two wars.
Both, film and instrument, were vastly ahead of their time at the beginning of the 20th century and message and sound are more relevant than ever today.
The then utopical scenery and the avant-garde production of the film are perfectly supplemented by the warm yet electronic and somewhat outworldly sounds of the Trautonium.
